Introduction

Wippet is a new entrant into the UK Aged Care procurement and supplier sector – with a goal to disrupt and transform how Aged Care homes find, source, procure and manage the purchase of critical products suppliers in the sector. Wippet’s goal is to become the nexus for the Aged Care sector, offering business buyers an all-in-one technology solution that combines marketplace, vendor sourcing, order management, approvals and billing orchestration.

In searching for a marketplace implementation partner, Wippet undertook a comprehensive RFP / RFQ process which encompassed multiple leading marketplace vendors globally. Wippet decided on working with UC Marketplace as its marketplace technology partner as it offered Wippet the best combination of technology, out-of-the-box capabilities, customization potential and road-map that aligned with Wippet’s go-to-market requirements.

The problem

B2B Marketplace Commerce is much more sophisticated, and complex compared to B2C commerce and requires more complex transaction capabilities and commercial agreements between Vendors and Customers. This includes the ability for Vendors and Customers to negotiate specific commercial terms and conditions such as Payment Terms and Credit Limits, establishment of Customer Price Books, multi-vendor quotation management, and order approvals management.

Additionally, buyers on the Wippet Marketplace would be organizations with multiple individual buyers, with administration of the buying process being handled by the organization administrator.

Wippet also required integration into the NHS organization catalogues to ensure data validity of registered aged care home buyers and to streamline the KYC and Organization Buyer Verification processes.

The solution

Adopting a collaborative and agile development philosophy, UC Marketplace and Wippet began co-design work on creating features and functionality that aligned UC Marketplace’s product roadmap with the requirements of the Wippet marketplace solution. With a multi-phase release planned, UC Marketplace delivered key custom features to aid in the first phase release of Wippet, to facilitate the onboarding of suppliers.

The solution featured UC Marketplace’s new B2B Marketplace Suite with new features being introduced in 2022 to support the growth and expansion of the Wippet business offering.
