‘We Didn’t Think eCommerce Could Do That’ and Other Customer Responses

In our ongoing conversations with partners, customers and prospects, we identify themes in their responses, or common objections to going ‘all in’ on digital commerce. Below is a sampling of those conversations.

We can’t replatform now, I need to wait until we have more bandwidth to handle such a time-consuming and costly project.

TRUTH IS: Delaying your digital transformation is costly for your business, both in the short- and long-term. Fortunately, you can go to market with a fully integrated eCommerce platform in weeks instead of months.

Replatforming is more expensive and more work than just upgrading on our current platform.

FICTION: At first blush it may appear that way, but if you look a little closer you’ll see that staying on an expiring or outdated platform runs you a number of costly issues, including having to integrate third party applications to complete the upgrade which may or may not integrate well with your current systems. You may also have to go in and undertake significant coding changes during an upgrade.

Replatforming can be done in weeks instead of months. And with a fully integrated platform, you never have to worry about integrating third party applications or creating a ‘Frankenstein’s monster’ platform not built or sustainable for the future growth of your organization.

Replatforming is a huge risk, and our organization can’t handle that right now.

TRUTH IS: Having the wrong eCommerce platform to skyrocket your growth is just as if not more risky. Confirm licensure and/or certification for PCI-DSS, PII, HIPPA, GDPR, CCPA.

Only providers rated or ranked by the Gartners and Forresters of the world deserve our consideration.

FICTION: While wholly legitimate rankings, Gartner and Forrester target only the largest solution providers with the most expansive customer portfolios. This leaves out the emerging or up and coming players in the market. These providers may not appear on a Gartner or Forrester quadrant just yet.

Our install base is simply too large and/or our business is too complex for online business.

FICTION: eCommerce can and should grow and scale with your organization to the point where it can seamlessly transact and deliver on billions of dollars in sales to satisfied customers in any given year, specifically during your busiest peak seasons.
